'I visited Dartmoor and as part of a wider work film project and took a short walk with Emma who runs Dartmoor's Daughter. She really knows the area and where to go to see the remains of hamlets, stone circles and natural geological formations that are part fo the area. The scenery is stunning, whatever the weather and she is able to tell you about history, folklore, flora and the fauna of the area. She knows the Tors, the rivers and the place names of the area she shows you plus details of their history, purpose and general knowledge. Atop this she is a really friendly, outgoing, smiley and positive person, keen for you to get the most out of the walk and to share her love of this beautiful area. She's passionate about her work and sharing that with her guests. Do have a chat to her about what experience is best for you and your group and she will do everything to make it as good for you as possible. Gentle, relaxing, invigorating and spiritual. Highly recommended.’ Bob A
Emma’s maternal family has loved and lived on Dartmoor for generations. Her 'Granny Val' introduced her first husband Eric Hemery to Dartmoor in the 1940s where he subsequently set up and offered guided walks and pony treks helped by her mother Sally. He later published several well regarded books including ‘High Dartmoor - Land and People’. With a foreward by HRH Prince Charles, this tome is described as 'the bible for anyone who has the spirit of Dartmoor'.
She is a qualified Hill & Moorland Leader with accompanying Outdoor First Aid certificate. Her previous 20 years corporate career in Europe, America and Asia, ensures a professionalism in managing and facilitating different client groups and cultures as well as experience in organising events, leading teams, and presentation skills.
