This beautifully renovated self catering cottage is situated in the heart of the Teign Valley, one of Devon’s most sought after holiday destinations and right on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park.
It is about one and a half miles from the famous ‘Steps Bridge’ footpath, famed for it's marvellous display of wild daffodils in the Spring and its bluebells and wild garlic in early summer. The area is a haven for wildlife, beautiful country walks and stunning scenery.
The cottage was once an old barn and had been used as a base for the local shoot each autumn. It was converted during the winter of 2017 to provide additional living accommodation. It is detached, has two bedrooms and can sleep up to 5 people. We are also dog friendly!
The cottage sits within a three acre plot which includes the main farmhouse, 1.25 acres of garden and orchard and a 1.75 acre paddock. It is no longer a working farm but more of a smallholding. We acquired our first two sheep, Eddie and Flo in 2017. In April 2018 Flo gave birth to twins Floosy and Freddie and we also gave a home to Polly who was an orphan lamb from a neighbouring farm. All five sheep are kept for their wool which we are learning to weave into rugs and seat covers!
Lockhouse Farm Cottage is ideally situated being about 8 miles from Exeter, a 30 minute drive to the coast and a stones throw from the rugged landscape of the moor itself.
