We do offer sales with promotional prices throughout the year, these are typically non-refundable and may be up to 25% off the room price.

Extra costs apply for exclusive use of grounds for weddings and other special events. If this option is not selected, we reserve the right to use the High Ropes course, Games areas, Bushcraft areas, Archery Range and Mountain Boarding courses in the grounds for adventure activity bookings.
Catering can be supplied at our Function Room, including Breakfast, Tea and Coffees, Buffet lunches, Afternoon Teas, Hog Roast, Hot and Cold Buffets, 2 or 2 course sit-down meal with table service, Sunday Carvery style meal.

  • Late Booking:  unexpectedly available for New Year, Bracken Tor House is a great destination for groups of families and friends looking for a place to chill out over the festive season.  With a wood-burning stove, the oak panelled lounge becomes warm and cosy for those winter days, so get out for a walk on Dartmoor, before coming back to settle down in from of the fire for traditional fun, such as charades, board games or simply chatting!

    Price has just been reduced from £548 per night to £473 per night for the whole house, and with 7 bedrooms, each with en-suite or private bathroom, sleeping up to 35 guests. Cots and High Chairs can be booked for our younger guests.

    In town, most of the pubs are open until after midnight, offering a variety of options for those that want to go out.

Road Directions

From the East

Leave the A30 at Okehampton (B3260) junction, and turn right at the end of the slip road. Follow this road for a further 2 miles into Okehampton town centre. In the town centre, you will pass over straight over two sets of traffic lights. In the town centre, pass a set of traffic lights (Pelican Crossing) and at the next set of traffic lights turn left, following the signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel. About 200m, take the 3rd turning right up Station Road, and after about 400m turn right at the monument. Follow this road, passing over the railway bridge and A30 dual carriageway take the first right to access the Youth Hostel, where the car park is at the entrance to Bracken Tor.

From the West

Leave the A30 at Okehampton (B3260) junction, and follow road for about 2 miles into the town. At the first set of traffic lights, on a crossroads junction, turn right following the signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel. After 200m, take the 3rd turning right up Station Road, and after about 400 m turn right at the monument. Follow this road, passing over the railway bridge and A30 bridge take the first right to enter the Youth Hostel, where the Hostel car park is beside reception.

Using a GPS navigation system

Do not use the Bracken Tor post-code in a GPS navigation system, as many of the systems will try and take you off the emergency access road to the A30

Public Transport Directions

There is public transport from Exeter St Davids, using various bus services serving Okehampton. Throughout the period from June to mid September, GWR are providing 4 trains on Sundays only service Exeter St Davids to Okehampton Station, about 15 minutes walk from Bracken Tor House.
