Dartmoor Easy Walks
Walks typically of up to 3 miles. All of these walks are laid out on a fairly even surface so steep climbs will not be on the agenda. You will still get to see some outstanding countryside along the way. Some walks are linear and some circular. The walks are aimed at being easy for someone of a reasonable fitness.
Take a look below at just some of the easy walks you can do on Dartmoor. All of the routes below state the level of difficulty and give an outline of the route s that you are fully informed before you even leave the house.

This easy three-mile route takes in two lovely reservoirs on the eastern side of the moor in a figure-of-eight walk. There are plenty of paths to extend your walk if you wish to go further.
The walks are in the area to the southwest of Okehampton - taking in spectacular views of the high moors, and of Meldon Reservoir and Viaduct.
Tavistock to Plymouth
Drake’s Trail is a network of walking and cycling trails. The network has something for all ages and fitness levels, starting with the new off-road cycling section between Tavistock and Plymouth.
This walk includes the industrial remains of the Tavistock Railway and its viaducts, a tramway that used granite sleepers, and a quarry complete with engine house.
This West Devon Way is a recreational route for walkers of 37 miles, running from Okehampton in the north to Plymouth in the south, and following the western edge of Dartmoor. The route can be split into 8 stages, all accessible at each end by buses.
One of Devon's long-distance walking routes, the Tamar Valley Discovery Trail, follows the valley between Plymouth and Launceston. This walk follows a length of that Trail and then doubles back to form a circuit.

Tavy Cleave, Tavistock
This is a moderate walk of 4.5 miles through the heart of a rugged cleave can be extended to a difficult walk of 9 miles.
This is easy walk of 3 miles over moorland takes in two tors, an ancient cross and involves a little stream jumping.
The beautiful countryside around Okehampton is rich with wildlife, steeped in history and waiting to be explored.....just take a walk.
For enthusiastic long-distance walkers, the Dart Valley Trail is a waymarked route linking Totnes and Dartmouth. The walk described here gives the possibility of adding this middle part of the Dart Valley to the Dart Valley Trail.
Fernworthy Reservoir, Fernworthy
Gazing across at Fernworthy Reservoir with the sun low in the sky and the gaggle of Canada Geese coasting nearby, there is no better place on Dartmoor than Potter's walk for a gentle stroll of almost a mile, or for exploring with young children.
This is a moderate walk of 5.5 miles takes in an ancient trackway and two crosses, or is a 3-mile easy stroll up and back to Avon Dam near South Brent.
