Active Dartmoor Magazine
Active Dartmoor magazine is THE magazine for anyone looking for information on the latest and greatest activities on Dartmoor. You can pick up a copy at any one of around 80 outlets including the local Tourist Information Centres or the National Park Visitor Centre.
Each issue is packed with feature articles on activities ranging from Cycling to Letterboxing, Walking to Wild Running, Caving to Horse Riding and many more. We feature activities and sports that are specifically suitable for the less mobile, in our Access for All series.
Whether you fancy having a go at Bouldering, want to know the story behind our Dartmoor Search and Rescue Groups or Park Rangers, enjoy reading about a Local Hero on Dartmoor or want to find out what clubs are in the area...you need to look no further.
We feature great places for a picnic, where to have a fantastic breakfast, lunch or dinner, how to find the amazing farm shops and restaurants where you can fuel up with a hearty breakfast or wind down after a bracing walk with a hot chocolate or relax in gorgeous surroundings to enjoy a gourmet dinner, we will guide you there.
The magazine features gear reviews, cycle rides, walks suitable for all levels of fitness, news from across the National Park, a What's On page, and information on Navigation, Camping, Photography, Volunteering and Fishing.
Literally something for everyone!
The team would be pleased to hear from anyone who wishes to have an article considered, event mentioned, activity pictured, written about or promoted, so feel free to get in touch.
The same contact can also be used for anyone who would like to advertise in either the magazine or on the website. Advertising is done in house so just give us a call or drop us an email.
Introducing our lovely new contributors Belinda Dixon and Nicola Hendy, reporters, presenters, broadcasters and adventurers extraordinaire!
We are delighted to welcome them both to Visit Dartmoor and to Active Dartmoor magazine.
This year two wannabe adventurers, called Seeking Adventure (www.seekingadventure.co.uk), plan to have 52 extraordinary experiences - an adventure for each week of 2016. Things like climbing Dartmoor crags, white-water kayaking, galloping horses amid the gorse, night-time navigation hikes, sleeping under the stars. Why? Because although long expeditions are remarkable, we believe mini-adventures and micro discoveries can also help you feel alive. We think that adventures start when possibilities are realised and seized. That tor tops soothe your soul. And that we can all do with more moors and mountains in our lives.
Our first #Do52 adventure took us to Dartmoor, amid some of the moor’s very best, foulest weather for a mountain bike jaunt. How did we get on? Why might you like to try it yourself? Find out HERE
