Located in the South of Dartmoor, Ivybridge boasts a rich industrial history and beautiful countryside views. With a wide range of accommodation nearby, Ivybridge is an ideal town from which to explore Dartmoor.
Ivybridge’s name comes from its small stone bridge over the River Erme which was once part of the main route between Exeter and Plymouth.
Home to a corn mill, tin mill and paper mill which were all powered by the river, the town’s population grew during the Industrial Revolution and with the development of the South Devon Railway.
Today, the paper mill and the Ivy Bridge are still standing in the town centre, and the disused parts of the railway make for some scenic walking routes.
