AboutIn a setting of almost unparalleled scenic splendour, and dating from 1700, Higher Rowes is a farmhouse offering the very best of traditional bed and breakfast accommodation. Surrounded by beautiful open moorland, Higher Rowes is the perfect place for a romantic break, family holiday or walker’s escape to the country.
The spacious guest’s lounge boasts exposed beams, comfy sofas and a fabulous inglenook fireplace. Cosy evenings in can be spent curled up with a book from the well-stocked bookcase or watching a film from the collection of DVDs. A fantastic, hand-carved spiral staircase leads tired guests to one of three well-appointed rooms.
The double room has an ensuite shower room and the twin room use of a private bathroom. The gorgeous family room has its own en suite bathroom. Sleeping up to four for just £80 per night, it offers terrific value. The views from the bedroom windows are worth the price alone.
Breakfast is everything you would expect from a Dartmoor farmhouse and more. Local eggs from free range hens, bacon and sausages from a farm less than a mile away and how about honey from a local beekeeper, made from free range Dartmoor bees! Continental options and a selection of cereals are also available.
Breakfast can be taken in the pretty garden, which offers views over miles and miles of open countryside. It is perfect walking country and cycle path no 27, Devon Coast to Coast, is on the farmhouse doorstep. Riding stables and even gliding can be found nearby for adventurous types. Well-behaved dogs are always welcome, but please check first with Christine when booking.
