Bracken Tor is situated on Dartmoor with views over Okehampton and the moors. There are three buildings, The House, The Lodge and a newly constructed Function Room set within four acres of landscaped gardens. Bookings can be made for each individual building or the entire venue may be booked including the grounds.
The main house was built in 1908, in the style of the Arts and Crafts movement the house still holds many original features and sleeps up to 36 people in 7 bunkrooms each with its own bathroom, hence it is the ideal venue for private hire. The House has a TV lounge, self-catering kitchen and dining room is great for family get-togethers, parties or corporate events. It has a small seating area with picnic benches outside, as well as a dedicated parking area.
The Lodge was formerly part of the old Filter House for SW Water. It has recently been extended and sleeps up to 36 people, with 4 ensuite bunk rooms, 2 single bedrooms and 2 8 bedded bunk Rooms. It has a lounge/dining area and a self-catering kitchen. It has a small seating area with picnic benches outside, a campfire circle as well as a dedicated parking area.
There is a separate function room that can be booked for weddings, receptions, conferences which provides the catering facilities for Bracken Tor. We have a full commercial kitchen in this building.
Bracken Tor may be hired on various different pricing basis: self-catering accommodation unit(s), bed and breakfast basis or full board catering with alcohol licence.
There are many adventure activities available, on site we have facilities for High Ropes, Archery, Mountain Boarding and Bushcraft. We can organise a full activity programme or just provide a day session, whatever is most suited for your group.
This venue is licensed for civil weddings.

Map & Directions
From the East
Leave the A30 at Okehampton (B3260) junction, and turn right at the end of the slip road. Follow this road for a further 2 miles into Okehampton town centre. In the town centre, you will pass over straight over two sets of traffic lights. In the town centre, pass a set of traffic lights (Pelican Crossing) and at the next set of traffic lights turn left, following the signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel. About 200m, take the 3rd turning right up Station Road, and after about 400m turn right at the monument. Follow this road, passing over the railway bridge and A30 dual carriageway take the first right to access the Youth Hostel, where the car park is at the entrance to Bracken Tor.
From the West
Leave the A30 at Okehampton (B3260) junction, and follow road for about 2 miles into the town. At the first set of traffic lights, on a crossroads junction, turn right following the signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel. After 200m, take the 3rd turning right up Station Road, and after about 400 m turn right at the monument. Follow this road, passing over the railway bridge and A30 bridge take the first right to enter the Youth Hostel, where the Hostel car park is beside reception.
Using a GPS navigation system
Do not use the Bracken Tor post-code in a GPS navigation system, as many of the systems will try and take you off the emergency access road to the A30
Public Transport Directions
There is public transport from Exeter St Davids, using various bus services serving Okehampton. On sundays throughout the period from June to mid September there maybe a train service to Okehampton Station.
